Happy new year subbies 🙂 Have you started on your goals for 2018 yet? Well, I have.
Anyway, I was seated reading a few articles from the Huffingtonpost and one of them caught my eye. It’s like it was speaking to me and I’ll just quote a few statements.
This is the year of melting. Let me clarify. It is not the year of melting because we are having warmer-than-usual fall and winter seasons. This is the year of melting because I finally decided to allow myself to experience emotions, to experience them and to sit in them.
It was an epiphany, actually. I chose to listen to Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh’s “Teachings on Love” while getting ready for work. He spoke of compassion and how we must offer compassion to all those that are suffering, no matter how big or how little their suffering. But, then, he said that we must also have compassion for ourselves. Wait a minute. What? He said that we suffer too, but often do not give ourselves compassion.
It is OK to feel your emotions, to allow yourself to feel your emotions, to feel your suffering, just like you would for others. If you can’t have compassion for yourself, how can you have compassion for others? This has been recited to me a million times but guys let me tell you honestly, it is not as easy as it sounds. No BS!! So, this is one of my resolutions this year; to take a moment to just feel whatever it is that I’m feeling and be in that moment before moving on.
With that off my chest, how cool is the print on my outfit? I bought this at the clearance sale for Asili Boutique. They have an online store and here is the link. You can also find their numbers and email within that website. I just wore the pieces together to show you guys the complete ensemble but you would never see me on the streets like that. I would prefer to wear them individually; the off shoulder with some jeans/shorts and the skirt with a crop or tucked-in blouse/shirt. My friend Saucy Flair also did a post on the product she got from them. Here is the link.
I plan on getting more Ankara outfits now so stay tuned for more features 🙂
