Happy new month darlings. We are only two months down the year and already so much is happening. Nairobi’s own Fashion High Tea was just last weekend. I didn’t attend but from what I saw it looked fabulous and be sure, bloggers and celebrities were all glammed up. Check out my friend Sheila’s blog to see some details. You can find it here–> Pearlsandloaf
On to better news for my blog lovers and readers, I modified and made changes to my blog. It was loads of excellent, tiring work but exciting too. Hope you love it 🙂
Let’s talk about faux fur for a minute. What you need to know is that it is not true fur. It gives the allure of real fur without the animal cruelty and it’s easier on our wallets of course. Research shows, it is made of synthetic fibers and heat is often applied to coax it to lie in a certain direction (similar to the way a blow dryer works on hair). The faux fur is then dyed and brushed, giving it a softness akin to real fur.
Now when it comes to finding the perfect winter coat, selecting something ultra warm often trumps style. In that case, voluminous puffers, parkas, trench coats, fur coats and bombers are usually our first pick. Although some might not seem fashion-forward outwear, practicality can also be quite pretty. I bought this coat last year and I love it. It can get you through all kinds of nasty weather. In this post I wore it because it complimented my brown body-con dress, it gave it some oomph! Paired it with black boots and a yellow chain from Deemachoka_accessories to complete the look.
I’m sure you are wondering why I wore it and the way it is freaking hot in Nairobi at this point of the year. Well, because I can haha. It was just for the photos. Also I was inclined to channel my inner Hollywood starlet and wear this most luxurious material. Hope you grow to love faux fur as much as I do.
If you’re looking to up your fashion game, get a statement coat (you can never go wrong) or if you are looking to maximize your wardrobe essentials i.e whatever you already have then learn to mix and match a lot. You will be just fine.
