As you all know Christmas is associated with the color red. So I thought I would do a post symbolizing this merry time of the year. Many people confuse between the colors maroon and burgundy. Allow me to tell you the difference. B.t.w they are both shades of red for those who were not aware. Maroon is a color or rather a shade of red that is very deep. It is, in fact, a shade that is obtained by mixing brown with red. The word maroon is derived from the French Marron for chestnut. Burgundy however is a shade of red that is, lighter than the deep red of maroon and also carries a tinge of purple that is the result of mixing of a blue color into red. Burgundy shade got its name after Burgundy wine that is produced in a region, in France that is known by the same name.

My friend, Patience Wema (@wemakadzo on i.g) took the pictures with me. It was a fun shoot for sure. I am dressed in a midi dress and I paired it with black pumps. She is in a short skater dress as you can see and black block heels, very comfortable might I add. Her dress is definitely a party dress while mine is for more sophisticated gatherings. This maroon color goes with just about everything: black, white, stripes, denim, navy blue. It can be paired with a number of different outfits. It is a closet must for me!
